Something about me

Difficult to summarize almost 30 years and more than 600 shootings…Looking at these numbers, I am the first one to be surprised.

Seen from the perspective of right now that Im writing,consciously I know there are many years,but the sensation at the time level,is very different. I remember ,not knowing where to pull down,but knowing perfectly where I wanted to go,arrive,and stay.

Everything has its own history,calm!,I will not bored you with mine..I would like to give thanks to all the people for whom in a casual .or rather causal way,I was finding my way,and for better or worse,you never know :-) ,I was able to do what I wanted and was looking for.This and much more it has made be today where I am,best of all,is that I like it,personally and professionally.

Also a thousand thanks ,to all who at fist without knowing me,they trusted me,and then bet,really thank you all.

We dont usually stop to think about it,my conclusión is that the path of each person is doing based on situations in which you have to choose,people you find you meet,and in some way,although at the moment you dont considerer,or give more importance.. You look back and you see how that encouter X, generated or rather triggered other circumstances ,one after the other you are doing the way,and having experiences,that always lead you to the actual present. This is called Butterfly effect,and is real.

Many years,many anecdotes,each film has his own,and some more than anecdotes are almost stories. Many people,,this part have always loved,knowing so many people,so different,apart from discovering the personal values of each one,learning things from their depatments,the necessary collaboration between them. I have always think,that this work is like a chain,all links are important to have a good final reesult..

Also,it have given me the opportunity to travel and know not only practically all my country,if not,many countries in this and other continents. Its funny because you can see,with minimal differences,,the work is the same everywhere,you just have to adapt a little,.

About my way of working, including the parts that more and less I like. I start from the base that I do not care that the advertiser is a super top brand, that is, less known, or important. I work the same for some as for others. I try in all, following the guidelines that give me the Director, or Filmmaker, who identifies with what we are doing, that is credible, regardless of gender, serious, humor, intrigue, real, beauty, ... Once described the characters, where we want to locate them, knowing what is trying to transmit, from here, either in real location that has to be adapted, or decorated to be built on a studio, I try to give the most in each project..

Sometimes it is somewhat frustrating by budget theme, and by our great enemy, the theme time, .... Even so, with the means you have, I always try to give the most. Every project, no matter how much it looks like others you have already done, is always different, there is always something new that you have not done before. Sometimes we do almost an intensive course on some subjects, with the thesis included. I have always enjoyed a lot of work in which I have had to recreate historical times. Some have given me the opportunity to return to the student years, including myself in the National Library, full of notes taken from the books, ... now you have everything on internet, I do not say it is not faster, easier and more practical, But if it takes away that magic point, or special, that almost all that we started before the Internet era, sometimes we miss it. Today with the times we work, it would be unthinkable move to a library, knowing that we have all the information with a few keys.

Something that makes me angry ?, When they tell me, .. "It’s the same, put anything" That annoys me, When I see spots,fims,etc, that what you see is that, that they have put anything, that has been caught there, and that it hurts to the sight, I feel very sorry, I plead to do things with care,love, taste, balance, aesthetics, and don’t disturb anything, of course,only in the case of you do so because it requires the script, but I insist, there are things that they hurt to see them, and others of course are magnificent. Let's not lose as I call it, "the sweetheart in doing things"

Sin of perfectionist and demanding, I am aware that perfection does not exist, and that is relative, it is up to each point of view and what we expect each one.. I particularly, although I'm happy with the work, always, no matter how much rest of people say me ,that pretty,cool, that nice, that good and pat on the back, what is happy happy 100%, rarely times, almost always,.I would like To give it a turn more of nut.- With respect to the requirement, for me is a drag, I am too with myself.-

I think it's something that happens to everyone who starts from zero in any project to make,be it a book, a painting, a building, a work, ... really if you do not put a limit to say,Finish,Stop!! , You can always keep turning, changing, testing, and dizzy, it has no end, Also at home,you never finish to dress it,or to make changes,.. you can always continue making transformations, there are worlds of infinite possibilities, and endless fan of concepts , And all of them valid.

Fortunately for this we play with very precise times, the challenge is to do the best, with the budget you have, and in the times that you give .. The bad thing is when the Nymphs of ideas do not want to appear, and you have to force them they get into your head.

What I like the most, is when you get the project, you start to study it, then to create it, ... I love to build in studio, you don’t know how much I enjoy, the construction world, see from the zero point, how it becomes physical , An idea, some drawings, and happy with everything, the environment of assembly days, with the construction team, helpers and atrezzistas, .. for me those moments are the best.

What I least like… always there is a part that does not like anything, .. The bureaucratic part that I call, tug of war in budgets. The just times to build, and to have everything. The changes that arise at each ppm , are taking, sometimes we have the OK,to 24 hours before giving motor .... crazy! We know that it is so, and we have not other way to adapt to all, and learn to work against time, despite all technology that we have today, and that really helps.

I have all the respect in the world for this profession, on the one hand I have been living it many years,on the other hand looks like what may seem from the outside,it is true,we don’t save lives ,and despite this sometimes we go beyond neurotics,but its also true that we are in it, when we are involved in a project, it is 100%, you almost forget about the world, you get so intensely at work, that there are no more... :-( And as I said before, for good or for worse, it is like it is. That have been on this many years,we have had to adapt to the changes, we have it more than assumed, mimicked in our DNA.

Summarizing, this World, with its pros and cons, with everything what it gives and takes away, you love and hate it, ...Has something that hooks, something has to hook you, and you have to like a lot to want to stay in it.

For my part tell you that I am only 1/5 of my department, there are 4 people without which nothing would have been the same in my career.

My builder Emilio Pelaez, a carpenter as none other without demeaning anyone. All the builders with whom I work, or have worked, Juan and Tomas de Artefacto, Pedro and all his team, Da Vincci, Juan Moya, Terron, Enrique, de Forma & Color, J Puerto,Noe de 4D,Paco Soto .... and many others, it is always a pleasure to count on them. With Emilio there are too many years, many laughs, many cries, many sleepless nights, many discussions, and many hugs, is more than a companion, more than a friend, an older brother, is family for me.

My first assistant, Sandra Galicia, she holds me, understands me, always with a smile,We cried and laughed a lot. She is excepcional as a professional and as a person.Someone with whom I am very quiet when she is with me,in any Project. Friend and sister. Many years many shared stories. She is always at the botton of the canyon,and she is an expert in lowering my Speedy. I adore her.

My beloved atrezzistas, Carlos Garijo, Antonio Castaneda and Jorge Garrido, .. along with many others that also have worked throughout this time,but I recognize that these 3,are my children.

Alfredo M Trujillo, another person I love, Toledanas nights to the computer and telephone, hand in hand with drawings, genius and artist, Difficult to find someone who sees what you see. Wonderful human person,good friend.. Team that is always 100%, playing in favor, and being there more beyond their obligations.

Mention also to a very important department,..The Transport, Victor and Raul del Hoyo,and his team,Ari,Balaguer..Always willing to lend a hand,knowing that you can count on them for anything arising.

Thanks to all of them for being, hold me, understand me, love me, help me, being companions and friends.

To be closing I can say that very happy, because I finally made my Web page, ... that it was time . I`ve been badly accustomed,for years I have not needed it,we were 4 cats,we all knew each other and it was a word of mouth. Now all departments have re-tripled of technicals,we are many many people.

At the end of the 80s and 90s many foreing teams,came to roll here,now its daily,and good thing…All been globalizad,and we are all everywhere.

Logically,demand to see work of people they will be in the projects,and the website,is the best way…

If you are not on Internet,You dont exist,or at least it is now said,and finally I have it !!!!!

I`ve been trying to do it ,long time,.. whenever I got to do it,got a job,and again I leaved in stand by,..so between hollow and hollow I managed to go making it,and finally is finished,..ok,more or less ,because surely I will continue tweaking,and hope including new jobs.

I would have liked to put many jobs that I have lost. There are some that I've digitized them from VHS, you will show in the image quality . Others can not find on internet,..so between what I had saved of long time ago,more I have been keeping,and searched on internet of the last few years,I have made a selection that I hope you like it,and with everything I have told you,you can get an idea about me and my work.
